Railroad Spike Grilling Spatula
Railroad Spike Grilling Spatula
These are hammered from a railroad spike and riveted to a stainless steel blade making them extremely sturdy and unique. They are about 16 inches long with a 4 inch wide blade. There is an option to include a drilled hole in the handle with a leather lanyard for hanging. (It should be kept out of direct weather).
Each is made one at a time and completely by hand so they vary slightly in size and shape.
Hand forged ironwork will last a lifetime if properly cared for. It should be treated with a certain amount of care and attention, similar to a cast iron pan. Ideally it should be kept in-doors or at least undercover. After food use it should be washed and then immediately dried and oiled with a light coat of food safe oil (like vegetable oil). If rust does develop it can be cleaned off with steel wool.
